So what did you really learn your first semester?

Well, you have completed your first semester of college. Was it what you expected or did you have to make some changes? Interestingly enough, some of the most important things learned didn't come from sitting in class. What were the things you learned that you consider good? What things did you learn that you wish you hadn't learned?

As far as making changes, there wasnt a lot. My study habbits I had to change for some professors because I was use to usng notecards and memorizing and some of the professiors were more applications so memorizing the terms and notes from class didnt help much. I am considering everything that I learned good, if I wasnt a good thing at the time it is now becuase I learned from it.

So far things are very different from last semester and last semester was very different from high school. I realized that college is nothing like high school and you really have to work for the grade you want. I also learned to watch out for myslef and make sure I get done what needs to get done. I don't regret anything I have experienced so far while at Kent State, all of my expierneces make me who I am.

I learned from first semester that the little things I did to keep up throughout the semester (making online note cards as the notes were given, keeping up with reading, and starting assignments when they were assigned) really paid off when it came time for exams. I plan to stay ahead this semester as well. It is always better to be a little bit ahead then behind!

I didn't have to make many changes academically, however, I did have a hard time adjusting socially. My expectations were about right when it came to workload, exams, and studying, but when it came to the social end of college I needed to work on letting things go and living with a large group of people the same age as me.
I also agree with Kelly on learning. Everything I learned, even the bad stuff, was I in some way benefited from.

When looking back the the previous semester, I can say whole-heartedly that I learned a lot about the college life, it's all about choices. The main thing that I have learned is that you really work for your grade, and letting the teacher know you're trying can make a world of difference.

I did not have to make many changes to anything during my first semester here.

This semester will be much more difficult because of the difference in classwork loads.

I learned that studying is really the only way to understand the material you need to know.

And lastly and most important,
You cant get anything out of it if you dont show up. That is to classes--Doc, you were so right!!!

Last semester I definitely had to make changes. I learned that I have to keep up with the readings, have better study habits, and not get so distracted by everything. I also learned that I have to set 2 alarm clocks in the morning since I slept through a few classes. Hopefully this semester I will be able to stay ahead and bring my gpa up.

I feel I learned alot last semester just about life. I learned how to live on my own and not have my parents help me through everything. But, also i learned I'm not very good at studying I have to try some new study tactics.

I definately learned a lot this first semester at KSU. I was about right when it came to studying, homework, and papers but what I didn't anticipate was all the walking!! I also made some very great friends and I was fortunate to be placed with my room mate Jill who will also be my room mate next year!!!!

I learned a lot about myself last semester. Some things I did worked and others did not work. I am now more confident on what ways work for studying for me and which ways do not. I am taking all I did good last semester and still doing that, and everything that didn't go well and changing that for this semester. I am still going to work hard and receive the grades I deserve. It is important to find ways that help you learn, because everyone learns and retains information differently.
